Performs a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy. work involves most of the following: installing or repairing any of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment; working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications; locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment; working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment; and using a variety of electrician’s hand tools and measuring and testing instruments. In general, the work of the maintenance electrician requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience. Duties specific to this job at this location, if different from SCA description: 1. Works on various portions of High Voltage controls and systems including work of troubleshooting, programming, installing, maintaining, repairing, modifying, and testing. 2. Switching sequencing and power outage coordination is a critical part of the work. 3. Work involves different kinds of switch gear, breakers, and circuits such as, High Voltage controls, Programmable Logic Controllers, contacts, wiring, ladder logic diagrams, governors and governor controls, and High Voltage system relays. QUALIFICATIONS: | MINIMUM | DESIRED | Education | Completion of Electrician apprenticeship | | Experience | Two years journey-level Electrician, including analysis of High Voltage controls circuits for power generating and distribution systems up to 115KV. | | Skills | Two years journey-level Electrician and five years with exterior overhead and underground power line maintenance, including analysis of High Voltage controls circuits for power generating and distribution systems up to 115 KV. Experience with high voltage safety equipment such as: high voltage isolation equipment; high voltage discharge hooks; grounding clusters; high voltage buss clamps; high voltage mats; high voltage safety shields, gloves and insulation blankets. Experience with high voltage test equipment such as: HiPot, thumper, fault locating Radar, high voltage volt meter Range Ovac to 50 KV, non contact high voltage detector, high voltage cable locator, shot gun (hot stick), infrared/thermal camera, high voltage meggers.
