Overview:
The Fort Gordon Directorate of Public Works, Natural Resources Branch, needs professional services support in meeting the installations mission requirements in support of the Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan and endangered species management component.
Responsibilities:
- The candidate will plan and conduct Fisheries Management activities, requiring a substantial knowledge of fishery management methods, procedures, and techniques. Must also have a clear understanding of the biological principles and theories of fish and wildlife management to develop new projects to enhance the overall quality of the natural resources. Assist with providing environmental education, to installation units, schools civic groups etc.
- The candidate will assist in Wildlife Management activities.
- The candidate will participate in government supervised forest wildfire suppression, forest fire training and prescribed burning operations as needed. Assist wildlife and forestry professionals with developing and implementing prescribed burn plans.
- The employee will operate a variety of vehicles including boats with outboard motors. Motor vehicles such as 1/4 ton 4x4 utility trucks with boat trailers, 1/2 to 5 ton cargo trucks, farm tractors, and crawler tractors. Performs operator maintenance on all equipment used including vehicles on a daily basis.
Qualifications:
- The candidate must have at least a BS degree in fishery biology, wildlife biology, biology or closely related natural science.
- Employee should possess or be prepared to obtain a Georgia Forestry Commission- Prescribed Burn Certification or equivalent.
- Candidate should have one or more years experience in the tasks described above.
- Candidate must have or obtain a DOD or State certification to apply pesticides on military installations.
