What's a good retail store to take a seasonal position with?
Asked by Heather
I'm looking for something during the hours my son is in school and I figured a lot of retail stores would be hiring now, for the upcoming holidays. So are there any stores that are known to offer more flexible part-time hours and better pay than others?

Hi there- Most stores WILL be hiring (I work in retail) BUT, many will wait till end of October/November to save payroll.
Most pay about the same so I would think of your needs:
Flexible hours?- Most LOVE daytime workers so will work with you (especially the larger ones with many staff members)
Think what YOUR needs and wants are- Heavy lifting and hectic business? Smaller mall stores. Less folks to help, but potentially more hours available. You have to work harder though. Makes the day fly by!
Just standing and cashiering? Think Target/Kohls etc.
ALSO, think of that all important discount- A big perk! KB toys offers a very good discount which would save money for Christmas shopping for your son. Gamestop would be great if he is into videos and gaming.

Walmart-perhaps you need to be more specific in your question. What part of the country do you live? Some retail stores are only regional.

any retailer open long hours will be more flexible with staffing and hours, but as far as a good working environment, if you have a JC Penney near you, check them out and see what type of help they need and hours of work
